Passport renewals via post

I sent off my children’s passport renewals on 14th March via the post office checking service. Anyone applied recently via post who can tell me how long it took to get the passports? I don’t know if I should cancel the applications and wait for the old passports to come back and resubmit fast track. Or will that take longer? We travel mid May so I’m a bit worried!

We submitted a few weeks prior and are expecting ours imminently so probably only 4-5 weeks all in. The first update received was to say it has been approved so no update on receipt.

LouLou198 · 21/03/2022 21:02

3 weeks from applying to receiving. This was in February. Hopefully you will be okay for May.

Notjustabrunette · 21/03/2022 21:08

I sent my children’s passports off in mid February and I took 3.5 weeks. At the time the estimated time was 3 weeks so was about right.

CrabbyCat · 21/03/2022 21:11

We applied 3.5 weeks ago and got the notice it was being printed at the weekend. We are travelling for Easter so hoping the post is quick!

Thethingswedoforlove · 21/03/2022 21:11

I applied on 5 March. Got a text today to say has been approved and will be being printed. So feels like 3.5 ish weeks might be right for me too

Pollyforever · 21/03/2022 21:25

Oh you've all made me feel better. Fingers crossed! The text I got said within ten weeks which takes us a few days after our departure date! But the automated message said renewals are taking around five weeks so I'm hoping that is right! @CrabbyCat I hope you get yours in time!

I definitely think you will get them. No make that, I KNOW you will get them. So don’t worry one bit.
It takes less than 4 weeks right now
(But mostly 2-3 weeks)

superram · 21/03/2022 21:50

Ours took 4 weeks, sent on 19th feb, recorded delivery. However, you can’t cancel and then fast track, you now have to wait. Good luck!

DappledThings · 21/03/2022 21:54

We just did all 4 of ours. Old ones sent off all to different centres. All came back in 2-3 weeks.

Did dc's passport recently (online application), received new one within 4 weeks.

CrabbyCat · 22/03/2022 20:23

Just to update to say DD's passport arrived today so the posting step was very fast!
