Headington Prep School admission advice

Hello, I was wondering if anyone's daughter went through the admission process for getting into year 5 or year 6 of the prep school and what was this like. How selective was the school? Daughter is currently in a state school and the last 2-3 years we have been very dissapointed both with the teaching and lack of clubs offered/language provision etc. She is average academically (stronger in maths than English), loves art, very good at dance and quite sporty. I am not sure if the school would only admit very academic children and if there is any point trying to apply. If you could please share your experience, it would be appreciated. Thank you.

Look on the school’s website. Photos as well as dialogue will show if the school leans towards sports, music, art, etc…
Do they offer bursaries ? Again, this will show you if they offer for sport then they consider this as important as academic subjects.
And you could ring the school and ask. They want the pupils so they’ll answer any questions.
Have a tour of the school. You’re often shown around by an older student and they’ll answer questions.
We had a choice of 4 or 5 schools so went to their open days and quickly discounted 3 as too boy orientated, one was way too old fashioned, one didn’t seem very high on security for boarders which worried me. You’ll know if the school feels right for your child.

Thank you for your reply. I have looked online and also visited the school myself and the facilities re dance, sports and music are fantastic. Everyone at the school was very nice. I suppose that I need to visit more schools to be able to compare, but I was wondering if someone here had gone through the prep assessment process. We will try to attend open days so the daughter herself decides if she likes the school.
