Is anyone a practice nurse and would you recommend?

Hello,
A job has come up locally to be for an ANP trainee position in practice nursing. I live in a fairly small town so these opportunities don't come up often and I'm thinking of applying. I meet the criteria and have quite a varied background of gynae, urgent care and education in nursing.
Is anyone a practice nurse or ANP in a GP practice? What are the pros and cons? Are there any career progression opportunities? Does it fit well with family life (I have 3 kids between 2 and 9!)
Thanks!

DH is a senior paramedic with prescriber training working for a group of GP practices. Four jobs were available open to paramedics or anps. Three paras and a nurse were appointed and they all love it. Pay is excellent. NHS pension still honoured, but only stat sick pay and GPS didn't want to match NHS holiday entitlement. But they have now agreed. Based at home, all manner of interesting cases but also good professional support.

@MrsPsmalls that sounds great! By pay is excellent- is the equivalent to NHS band 7?

Any other practice nurses? How does it work- can you still get an nhs pension? Do they match AFC conditions?

I am a practice nurse, I have an NHS pension but they don’t follow AFC so holidays are less, very small amount of sick pay available.
The opportunity’s are great and I have had more funding for courses than I did in 20 years in hospitals. I was a band 7 and had to drop to band 5 until I had passed Certain practice nurse competency’s- all passed and currently mid band 6 and need to do my ANP stuff to be a 7.
Hours are family friendly and more flexible, we have late openings where I work so I work till 8pm some days and have to work one Saturday in 4 - morning only

Thank you @white66! Do you enjoy the job day to day?

I love it, I moved from acute care for less stress and more family time and it definitely has worked for both!
