Any personal accommodation recommendations for sunny European holidays with 2 under 3

Hi everyone.

I know MN is full of people asking for holiday recommendations. I have honestly read through as many as the old threads as I can, but I am still paralysed with indecision.

I am needing some MN wisdom/experience regarding a June holiday for myself, husband, 3yo and 1yo.

We haven't really been abroad since having kids so feel I am a complete novice.

We would like

  • a week somewhere warm ideally with beach / pool but also walking distance from a nice town/village to potter around
  • max 3ish hours flight from London
  • somewhere I can book an apartment so there is some living space, kitchenette and plus 2 bedrooms
  • have never done all inclusive but would be happy to try, or alternatively eat out or self catering
  • I don't want to have to rent a car.

Has anyone had a great holiday like this (who can ideally send me a link and I can book the whole thing in 10 minutes flat!)?

Save me from my endless googling!

Thank you so much!

What’s your budget?

ShakeShakeShaky · 21/03/2022 12:20

Thanks for your reply.

I have no real idea how much non-UK holidays with kids cost.

I suppose like lots of people I like to feel I am getting value for money - all our UK holidays have been cheap and cheerful (airbnb cottage, sainsburys delivery, walks in woods etc) which I am very happy with.

However, if there was something for £5k (or more) for a week which was amazing I would also be keen.

We are both front-line doctors and COVID has been miserable so willing to spend some savings to have some nice family time.

Not going in school holidays?

ShakeShakeShaky · 21/03/2022 12:36

@NeedleNoodle3 this looks lovely - any particular accommodation you would recommend?

@DistrictCommissioner annual leave is booked for June this year - outside of school holidays

Thanks!

Hi OP

Have a look at the Martinhal resorts in Portugal. We have stayed in the one in Cascais which doesn't quite meet all your criteria, however they have another resort (can't recall name) which does. We had a great time when we went with our toddler - I recommend it as the resort is geared up to cater for young families and we had a "villa" so had our own bedrooms, kitchen, sitting area and toys, books, baby monitors and all sorts were provided by the hotel. We also stayed in Salema Beach in Portugal which would work too and had a brilliant week (only downside was the sea was very choppy and not suitable for small children, but pool was perfect).
