The tv in my bedroom just turned on all by itself!

It must be a haunted bedroom - the sky remote was on my bedside table and the tv remote on dh’s bedside table. Nothing was touching either of them! I was sitting down just about to pluck my eyebrows when suddenly telly sprung on…. To midsomer murders! I hope it’s not a sign Grin
Has this happened to anyone else?!

Is it a smart tv?
I often come downstairs of a morning and mine is mysteriously on!
I'm thinking some kind of reboot?
(Hoping some kind of reboot.... I honestly don't have the time nor energy to deal with a ghost)

When I visit my mum in her care home I used to stay (pre-covid) in the guest room of the care home, which has a TV on the wall. One time I just couldn't get it to stay off. I switched it off after watching something, then a few minutes later it switched itself on again. This happened several times, and it was wired directly into the wall so no plug to switch off. I had visions of the blasted thing switching itself on repeatedly all night but thankfully it stopped after some time.

@livyaz I guess so yes, not very smart of it is it?! No, I don’t have spare mental capacity to be hosting a ghost either Grin
Oh @DuesToTheDirt our downstairs tv is a total nightmare to turn off, I hate it so much. You press the button on the remote to switch it off and it obliges but then comes back to life no sooner than I’ve put the remote down. It’s a battle of wills. I rarely watch tv down there and when I do I often just leave the room and shut the door, it must switch itself off after so many hours of inactivity as it’s off again by morning!

Someone close by probably has the same telly remote.

ManifestingMaureen · 20/03/2022 21:13

Apparently low batteries in the remote control can cause this for some reason, it has happened to us a few times in the middle of the night!

TheChosenTwo · 20/03/2022 21:23

@gamerchick really? As in, next door neighbours or the bedroom next door?

@ManifestingMaureen I shall change the batteries, although I think I did it only a month or so ago for both of them Confused
