I have a question about Luther - don’t open if you haven’t watched it!

I’ve just spent the weekend watching all 5 series of Luther. Alice is a fab character - but why did she kill her parents?!

Also, how long after Zoe died did Mark get married?

I opened this to answer it but realised I was confusing it with Lucifer! Oops

EnjoyingTheSilence · 20/03/2022 19:23

Can’t remember, might have to watch them all again!

ineedsun · 20/03/2022 19:26

I think she killed them because she could. I don’t remember mark getting married.

In the very last episode Mark talks about his wife.

Yes, I was thinking that she killed them just because she could but then I wondered if I’d missed something.

I think Alice was just psychotic & killed her parents because she could / felt like it and to see if she could get away with it.

Thanks for the replies :)

I wonder if there’ll be another series.

Another question!

Did Luther love Alice?

Alice is a psychopath that's why she killed her parents and the dog... she really loved Luther and I think he loved her a bit too. I loved Luther too! Such a brilliant show! Scary at times though! The attic, the bus, under the bed. Oh I need to rewatch them all now!!

Phlewf · 20/03/2022 20:34

I thought, yes she was definitely a psychopath, but I thought there was an implication they had been abusive in some way. Because she had been so smart and forced through and uni. Never explicitly said, and she took the best opportunity to off them and the dog.

ScreamingMeMe · 20/03/2022 20:38

I hated the last series of Luther. I think they ruined Alice's character Sad

MancInSpanx · 20/03/2022 20:43

I love Luther! Might have to rewatch it. 3 scenes really stick in my head-

  1. the man coming from under the bed, ALWAYS check under my bed now
  2. when the police man is in the car watching the other police woman check out the flat, you think someone’s going to come from Behind her but he turns back and the clown is sat next to him 😳
  3. when the man pretends to be a detective and gains entry into the woman’s house by saying her husbands been in an accident. She has a baby playing on the mat. He starts sticking out his tongue and twisting it before he kidnaps her (and kills her). Honestly makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about it, so simple yet SO CREEPY

I’m crap with names of characters as you can tell 🤣

ineedsun · 20/03/2022 21:35

My favourite scene is one where he’s banging on the door and shouting ‘open up, police’ and they say ‘which police?’ from inside the door.
He kicks the door down and says ‘THE police’

GregBrawlsInDogJail · 20/03/2022 21:46

I think Alice kills her parents just because she's a sociopath and casually despises them. To her it's like swatting a fly.

I didn't think Mark got remarried, did he?

The creepiest scene ever is the one with the murderous surgeon talking to his intended victim pre-op and in the middle of his professional monologue calling her something vile. It leaves her not believing her own ears, and knowing no one will believe her if she says it, and him high as a kite on the power.

Nailest · 20/03/2022 22:26

They don’t show Mark’s wife, but they definitely mention her in the very last episode.

Agree with lots of the creepiest moments. Another stand out one for me was when the bloke put the 3 toothbrushes of the 3 girls in his mouth.
