We always have mash or new potatoes, and one or two from green beans, peas, carrots, or cabbage.

What else could I have?

Spinach goes well with it for a change

Wouldntitbenicetobeinyourshoes · 20/03/2022 18:43

Sugar snaps, mangetout, broccoli, a mix like this?

I don't like the thought of sweetcorn with parsley sauce........spinach is a good idea!

Leeks but peas are best!

FelicityFidget · 20/03/2022 19:23

Roast tomatoes

Boscoforever · 20/03/2022 19:26

Mmmm, parsley sauce....you've made me so hungry!
I love all veg except celery and celeriac. I would go cabbage as a definite, peas, mashed swede/turnip?

WibbleWobbleWibble · 20/03/2022 19:27

@FelicityFidget

Roast tomatoes
No!!!!

I don't want tomato juice anywhere near my parsley sauce.

Leek is another one to try

We have new potatoes, peas and carrots.

CheapTop · 20/03/2022 19:29

Broccoli or sprouts.

Chishnfips · 20/03/2022 19:30

Mushy peas

GrouchyKiwi · 20/03/2022 19:32

I'd have corn on the cob (roasted with butter), carrots, broccoli.

KnottyKnitting · 20/03/2022 19:32

We usually have sautéed potatoes ( or air fried equivalent,) green veg, Yorkshires, and caramelised onions-yum!

Vampirethriller · 20/03/2022 19:34

Broccoli, sprouts or cauliflower

Cleothecat75 · 20/03/2022 19:37

We have the same veg with everything -anything from this selection:peas, carrots, sweet corn, roast parsnips (if I’m lazy, nearly shopping day, running out of money), or sugar snaps, mange tout, tender stem broccoli, Baby corn, those little baby carrots, Fine green beans. I also do cauliflower, but 2 out of 5 will only eat it with a cheeses sauce (And I out leek and broccoli in it then too) so that would be a no go with parley sauce.
I would serve any of them except the cauli cheese with ham and pars.ey sauce.

Fifthtimelucky · 20/03/2022 19:41

I agree with broccoli, leeks and peas - either normal ones or sugar snaps/mangetout.

I also like baked potatoes with mine.

user1471443411 · 20/03/2022 19:43

We always have boiled potatoes (with butter) and frozen peas when we have ham and parsley sauce. The only other vegetables I can think of which might go with it are mange tout or sugar snaps, green beans at a push but I don't think any would go as well as frozen peas.

HeddaGarbled · 20/03/2022 19:46

Courgettes, thinly sliced and fried with garlic.

NeededAction · 20/03/2022 19:50

Cauliflower

MarmiteCoriander · 20/03/2022 19:52

I've never heard of ham and parsley sauce. I'd normally have pineapple with gammon, but parsley sauce is a new one to try.

I'd put any veg you like with it: broccoli, cauli, broccolini, green beans, courgette, asparagus or any root veg.

I too wouldn't put tomato as think it would clash. I do like tomatoes, just not in a creamy sauce like that.

LoveFall · 20/03/2022 19:57

Scalloped potatoes and baked butternut squash.

Butteredtoast55 · 20/03/2022 19:59

My Mum always had mashed or sauteed potatoes and broad beans with ham and parsley sauce

Charlieandlola · 20/03/2022 20:04

Broad beans !

justjuggling · 20/03/2022 21:53

New potatoes, peas and cauliflower.
