Anyone picked up their passport in person recently?

Our renewed passports are being printed Monday, but then there is a 10 day delay at the passport office getting them out to the courier. I’ve found guidance online that you can just go pick them up instead, is that true?
Anyone done this, did you have to tell anyone before you turned up?

I don’t have any experience but would definitely talk to the passport office first

They will be printing hundreds of passports an hour and sorting them ready to be courier out. It won’t be a case of the receptionist being able to just wonder over to the printer and pick it up. They also might not have the facilities to do a proper id check

Thank you! We are finding it so hard to speak to someone who can help us. The main phone line is being answered by people who are working from home and don’t have secure access to applications so they try to transfer us and no one answers, they say someone will call back in 24 hours and it takes 10 days… very difficult!
