Where's the biggest Tesco in London?

Want a really massive one, with lots of clothes and homeware and electronics and space in the aisles and loads of choice. Sick of all the tiny ones in London. Surrey Quays is the best I've found so far.

The Leytonstone one is really big.

glowingcandle · 19/03/2022 21:19

Also, not what you asked, but Sainsburys in Beckton is huge and really good.

ComtesseDeSpair · 19/03/2022 21:19

Supposedly the largest store is in Woolwich, or so they claimed when it was my local one. It’s decent enough - but not as good as London’s largest Sainsbury’s, which is now my local in Sydenham.

Sharpkat · 19/03/2022 21:26

Came on to say Surrey Quays is pretty big, but you beat me to it.

chipsarnie · 19/03/2022 21:31

The one in Hackney (Morning Lane) is a bit bigger than the Leytonstone one IIRC. Some gigantic ones on the A406 too.

AHungryCaterpillar · 19/03/2022 21:36

Woolwich is suppose to be the biggest one (it’s my local)

The largest Sainsbury’s store is actually Crayford.

earsup · 19/03/2022 21:43

edmonton is big.

ElaineMarieBenes · 19/03/2022 21:49

Oh I love the Sainsbury’s store in Sydenham - we know it as the largest Sainsbury’s in the world!

ElaineMarieBenes · 19/03/2022 21:50

Oh dear - it seems it’s not even the biggest in London!

goingtotown · 19/03/2022 21:58

Brookfield Cheshunt in Hertfordshire is their flagship store.

cafedesreves · 19/03/2022 21:59

Woolwich is massive

BillyAndTheSillies · 19/03/2022 22:02

Beckton. Leytonstone is walking distance from me but I'd still rather go to Beckton.

Lipsandlashes · 19/03/2022 22:02

@goingtotown

Brookfield Cheshunt in Hertfordshire is their flagship store.
And a massive M&S next door
shivermetimbers77 · 19/03/2022 22:06

Woolwich is the biggest or if you’re west the one in the Hoover building in Ealing is also huge

Imsittinginthekitchensink · 19/03/2022 22:08

Gallion's reach is 2 floors and mahoosive.

MisterRee · 19/03/2022 22:12

I worked in a Tesco when I left school and there was rumours that the chesunt store was so big that the staff wore roller skates 😂

ILoveAllRainbowsx · 19/03/2022 22:21

@goingtotown

Brookfield Cheshunt in Hertfordshire is their flagship store.
Yes because their headquarters used to be in Cheshunt.
londonmummy1966 · 19/03/2022 22:48

There's a huge one in Streatham that has a very large mezzanine for non-food so loads of clothes and homewares etc.

VerityPJohnson · 20/03/2022 20:35

Thanks everyone! I'm central so all directions fine and I miss going to the superstores

OP posts:
DarlingDarwin · 20/03/2022 20:37

I thought the largest was Purley?

Florenz · 20/03/2022 21:26

In general, the biggest supermarkets are not in the biggest cities, because the big cities will have several branches of the same supermarket. The really big ones will be in large towns where one "Big Tesco" serves a large surrounding area.

NameChChChChanges1 · 20/03/2022 21:29

Brent Cross is big and also I think there's a pretty big one in Slough

Titsywoo · 20/03/2022 21:30

@DarlingDarwin

I thought the largest was Purley?
Purley isn't that big
Kpo58 · 20/03/2022 21:31

The Raynes Park branch is really big too with 2 floors.

bumbl3 · 20/03/2022 21:32

Isn't it slough? I remember going there in the mid 00s. My mind was blown.
