Hi - my baby has covid. He's really suffering - high temp, bunged up, coughing etc etc. We're managing symptoms at home so far.

Issue is - my baby sleeps with a dummy. He's so bunged up he can't breath with the dummy in, so he spits it out then he screams and screams because he wants his dummy.

We've raised the cot bed, bought a calpol plug in, used capol nasal saline solution. Baby is on calpol for temperature/ we've used baby ibuprofen twice upon GP instruction when temperature sky rocketed. We tried olbas oil last night (couple of drops in warm water as per instructions).

But he just can't sleep properly.

What else can we do? Any tips gratefully received? He's really poorly.

Have you tried the nasal aspirators?

Poor little thing. And poor you, must be worrying. Only thing I can add is steam. Not sure if you rub a tiny bit of Vicks onto a baby’s back and chest? This helped mine with Whooping Cough ( many years ago!)

Oh no poor little lamb. Have you put Vicks on his chest and back? And soles of his feet.

I use a blob (teaspoon) of vicks in a bowl of boiled water in their rooms (obviously somewhere safe) which helps them breath.

Calpol and calprofen.

Thank you. I think I have some vicks somewhere. I'd did buy a nasal snot sucker at some point, will hunt that out.

He's now started coughing really badly so is waking himself up with that.

Everyone said it was 'mild' in babies, even my GP said that. This doesn't feel mild but he's my first and I don't have anything to compare it with. He's only had one other cold before but it was nothing like this.

Just feel so worried :-(

Poor little one. Not much to add, but don't think twice about getting hold of some medical help if you are worried. OOH, a walk-in centre, 111, anything. A&E if nothing else.
