Admittedly it must be at least twenty years since I last tasted ice cream so my tastes will likely be rather dated. As a youngster, I used to like the Lyons Napoli cornets with different fruit and other flavours. I liked strawberry the best, then orange then mint choc chip. Cornish ice cream was also quite popular but I might find it too rich now. Haunted House ice cream lollipops were a good compromise; better than bland Mr Men lollies but not as good as a Mivvi or Orange Maid.

Does anyone really like ice cream made with lumps of cookie dough ? It sounds grossAngry.

Love ice cream! My favourite is pistachio from a local shop where they make their own.

Otherwise from a supermarket I love Ben and Jerry's minter wonderland which they do at Christmas or cart dor strawberry.

Oh and Joe's ice cream when I'm in Mumbles. From their shop not the stuff from a super market as they taste different 1 fond memories of my grand parents every time I have it. 😊

I love pretty much everything except chocolate. Had a Seasalt flavour recently that was delicious. My favourite is a good strawberry but a lot of places make the strawberry too sickly sweet.

Yes! Was coming on to suggest Joe’s. Awesome, nothing tastes anywhere like it.

My homemade black forest ice cream. I have to stop myself from eating it all (I make 5 tubs at a time!), it's so good.

Gerbilteeth · 19/03/2022 20:53

@NewbieDivergent

Pistachio, whichbis really hard to come by now, failing that, toffee fudge/salted caramel.
You can make your own, using pistachio butter (like peanut butter) or pistachio essence from abroad. I have a proper ice cream machine, and always make my own now. I make a lot of alcoholic ice cream. Orange blossom, treacle, spearmint and passionfruit are favourites too.
PollysPockets · 19/03/2022 20:55

Ben and Jerry’s chunky monkey (it’s banana ice cream with walnuts and fudge chunks- delicious!! Think they discontinued it but I’ve heard asda have just brought it back so I’m going to try and get my hands on some.
Banana ice cream in general although hard to find is just the best- I don’t even like bananas Grin

Gerbilteeth · 19/03/2022 20:55

I also recommend green tea ice cream - just buy matcha tea powder, and mix it with a good bought vanilla ice cream - eg. Mackies.

Liar5Fire4321 · 19/03/2022 20:56

Seen some weird flavours abroad like salted egg

Weekendtobegin · 19/03/2022 20:56

Haagen daaz Belgian chocolate

ISeeTheLight · 19/03/2022 20:59

Proper Italian ice cream - creamy and rich. Nutella or nocciola (hazelnut).

AlphaAlpha · 19/03/2022 20:59

Locally we have a farm that makes cinnamon ice cream and it is amazing!

Another vote for a good pistachio ice cream here, and the standard mint choc chip.

Pinchofnom · 19/03/2022 20:59

Not a huge fan of ice-cream but in the summer if I’m in the mood:

Banana is my fave followed by Cornish clotted cream vanilla

GrouchyKiwi · 19/03/2022 21:03

@BarbaraofSeville

We don't usually have ice cream at home but we do have an amazing farm locally that makes it's own ice cream. It's so much of a destination that we only go if we're off in the week as the queues at the weekend on nice days are immense.

They have hokey pokey if you're anywhere near Tong near Bradford @GrouchyKiwi.

Thanks for the tip, Barbara. We're in Scotland but SIL is in Leeds. That's fairly close, I think. Grin
hellcatspangle · 19/03/2022 21:10

Tbh I love all flavours - whatever flavour I have I always think "this is the best" but my first choices tend to be rum and raisin, or something toffee/caramel based.

Okbye · 19/03/2022 21:11

Another vote for pistachio! My absolute fave was Antonio Federici pistacchio which you used to be able to get in Sainsbury’s but it’s long gone 😭 It was SO GOOD. Thick and creamy and just bloody gorgeous!

I still have a look to see if it’s magically come back every now and again!

whattodu · 19/03/2022 21:11

Plain vanilla with raspberry sauce and salted peanuts yum

APurpleSquirrel · 19/03/2022 21:13

We have 2 places locally that make their own amazing ice cream - my favourites are Salted Caramel & chocolate brownie from one (Otter Valley Field Kitchen, Honiton); & Dark cherry, lime & elderflower and lemon crunch from the other (The Orange Elephant Ice Cream Parlour, Exeter).

youngestisapsycho · 19/03/2022 21:16

In Tesco last week I got a tub of Haagen Daaz Pina Colada Ice cream,... it was amazing! I also love their Praline ice cream.
Mint Magnums are good too Smile

BodgertheJogger · 19/03/2022 21:19

Marshfield black currants and cream. Italian ice cream is in another league so I won't include that.

savehannah · 19/03/2022 21:22

Haagen-Dasz (that one nobody can spell including me probably) salted caramel. Also the Baileys one.

FinallyHere · 19/03/2022 21:25

Haagen Dazs Vanilla

Always have cherries in brandy, chocolate wafers, double creme, creme fraiche and good chocolate on the promises in readiness.

Datsandcogs · 19/03/2022 21:31

The best ice cream is from a shop in Amroth.

The best flavour, for me, is raspberry ripple.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 19/03/2022 21:39

Haagen Dazs Cookie Dough chip is my absolute favourite, much better than Ben and Jerry's. Too bad I can't find it anywhere :(

GeneLovesJezebel · 19/03/2022 21:41

Mint choc chip is my favourite, but I’d love to try a rum ‘n raisin again.
