Can you please recommend a paper shredder ?

Nothing with bells and whistles or too expensive. Just something for home to help me dispose of lots of old A4 size documents.

Thankyou.

We have the Bonsaii C149-D. We do quite a lot of shredding and of the few models we've had over the years, hands down this has been the best and most reliable so far. Previous ones have stopped shredding and got jammed, etc. This one doesn't. The labelling says the maximum number of sheets is fourteen, which is about ten more than I would actually try to shred at once.

We have our own company and have had to deal with all FIL's and then all MIL's paperwork - and they kept every piece of documentation they were ever sent or created, so it's been a slog for us and a real test of the shredder.

I've no idea where DH got it but possibly Amazon, less than £100.

Thankyou Noodles. That model may be a bit extravagant for my needs but it's a start. It may well only get used a few times a year.

If you have a lot of shredding to do, a small home shredder might be insufficient unless you can very patiently do 'little and often'.

We have a basic Argos one but it overheats if you try to shred more than a few sheets at a time.

Instead of buying a shredder you might want to see if there are any local companies where you can pay to give them your shredding to go in their industrial machines as a one off.

My workplace has secure boxes that we put shredding in, so I'm thinking of types of companies that take the boxes, if you can give them your shredding directly.

Thanks Barbara. Worth bearing in mind.

Saw a post on here that said scrunch it in a bucket of cold water, squeeze it into a ball and let it dry out - a sort of papier mache lump that's illegible. Worth a try?!
