Why are people rude to learning disabled people

I have a learning disability and find people to be quite rude to me! For example when I try to join in conversation my comments are ignored! And when I'm around people who I know they tend to not acknowledge me!

Why do people do this? Sad

I'm sorry that must feel horrible. I don't know why people act this way, but have you tried asking them? Not easy, but may highlight to them what is happening.

Because they are c@#&s OP Flowers

I’m really sorry if that’s a common experience for you. It shouldn’t be.
They are ignorant and prejudiced.
I wouldn’t want to chat to them.

It's horrible isn't it. Similar happens to me as an autistic woman.

IncompleteSenten · 19/03/2022 16:38

Because some people are twats.

It is hard to know why if you don't give any examples. It could be that they are rude but it could also be that you have a tendency to say something inappropriate or otherwise try to enter the conversation in an inappropriate manner. I have heard about coaches who can help you learn to read social cues and how to improve your body language. Do you have a support organisation that might be able to help you with this? It might be better to ask a professional to help instead of a family member as they might be too afraid to hurt your feelings or accustomed to you to a point where they don't see anything out of the ordinary. I wish you well and hope you'll find new nice friends.
