Was I wrong to not take his kid to the park?

Arranged for ds to meet up with an old friend today, they hadn’t seen each other in ages so I arranged to take them to the park and then back to ours for some PS4.

Unbeknownst to me another parent who we know became aware of this plan and asked ds’ friend’s mum to ask me if I could take his kid too while he went to the pub.

It put me in a really awkward spot because I wasn’t willing to take his kid. His kid had online conversations with another kid we know (which my son saw and told us about, and we then viewed) on the PlayStation that involved using the worst racist slurs possible and talk of stabbing people and the c word. Because of that we banned him from ds’ playstation.

And I’m not prepared to take him to the park and hang out with my son because of it.

AIBU?

Not at all

Are you going to tell them why?

YoComoManzanas · 19/03/2022 14:52

CF couldn't even be bothered to ask you himself. Did you laugh in friends mums face and ask her if she were his social secretary? Although in reality I would have rather awkwardly said no thanks and felt angry about it later.

When the messages happened I sent screenshots to his mum to let he know- kindly and warmly, I might add- what had happened. She denied it was him and wouldn’t accept it (it was his username).

No chance

No way.

Georgeskitchen · 19/03/2022 15:10

yanbu. Even without the nasty comments why would you be expected to mind somebody else's sprog while they go to the pub?

Bootothegoose · 19/03/2022 15:19

Not at all.

He's not your son's friend and you didn't invite him, regardless of the Playstation comments.

You're not childcare. If DS wanted him there, he would have invited him.
