Our price for direct debit is going from £123 p/m to £396 from 1st April . I know it's going up but Jesus surely this can't be right !

Are you on a fixed rate now? Is your account up to date?

Allhallowseve · 19/03/2022 13:49

Account up to date with meter readings on flex rate.

Have you worked out what your current usage will cost on the new tariff? Standing charge is going up a lot too.

My last bill was estimated and I've just provided meter readings and I've gone form £245 credit to £946 debit! And that's before my rate almost doubles next month! I think I might live in a tent............

Allhallowseve · 19/03/2022 16:26

Honestly was expecting it to double -but nearly £300 more per month just seems more than anyone else I know .

Your annual usage should be on your bill, if you calculate the cost using the April 22 rates you'll know whether the DD amount is reasonable.

Some companies will be upping the direct debit to get ahead over the summer to prepare you for further price rises in the autumn.

Which company is it with?

Allhallowseve · 19/03/2022 18:07

Ok I will have a look it's with e-on

What’s the difference in your unit rates and daily standing charge? That’s the bit to compare?

Allhallowseve · 19/03/2022 18:33

I can see on the bill all if the differences I'm charges and standing rates . Eon have calculated the total estimated annual costs for gas and electric and it works out divided by 12 at an extra £104 per month . Not an extra £273 per month that they are planning to debit us . Obviously I will speak to eon next week who I am sure will explain to me that it's correct SadI just wondered if anyone else in the same boat with such a big increase ?
