Ingrained mud stains in clothes

DH put DD in stone wash jeggings to splash in the mud. They got covered. I rubbed the excess off with fairy liquid and soaked them in vanish for a day, then washed them. They are still heavily stained. Can they be saved?

how warm was the wash? I'd wash as warm as they can tolerate with bio powder and stain remover, maybe a few times.

Also can try a vanish paste

Or soaking again with bio detergent and vanish in warm to hot water.

Scrub the vanish paste or whatever with an old toothbrush. Husband has stronger hands, yes? He can do the toothbrush scrub.

Thanks everyone. Looks like we are going to have to do the toothbrush thing. I was hoping there was an easier fix from people who wash muddy sports kits all the time! I have lots count of the number of pairs of DD's white knitted tights I've been over the years because once they get muddy they can't be cleaned.

Bumping hopefully in case someone has a magic solution to this.

Stardrops stain remover spray is pretty good - you get it in home bargains.
