Where do you buy clothes?

Hi Mumsnetters,

I’m thinking about my wardrobe and making a few changes.

Where do you most most of your clothes - I’m thinking loungewear are home, and secondly, clothes for work and going out?

I don't buy a lot of late, but if I need bits I tend to head to Matalan. It depends what sort of stuff you're after, and probably will differ for different ages, but I find Matalan do good value basics and they fit my body well. I'm a tall size 14 and find the clothes flattering. H&M is great when the clothes fit, and horrendous when they don't!!

MustardRaisin · 19/03/2022 12:53

Oh and to add, if I need something fancier, I tend to look on ASOS and then if I see something I like then I'll often head to the brand's own website to see what else they do.

countdowntonap · 19/03/2022 13:01

ASOS as it has so many brands and has discount codes all of the time. Really easy to return items too.

Free People and Karen Millen are then my next ‘go to’ places, with Hobbs for work clothes.

M&S, largely, for casual wear and loungewear. With a bit of phase eight and Boden thrown in.

Don’t go ‘out out’ much so can’t comment, but pretty much the same shops!

Coffeencrochet · 19/03/2022 13:05

I've also recently rediscovered my love for basics from Matalan - I've moved to an area with a huge store near me and it's great. I've say check out the physical store as photos don't do them justice on the site. Other everyday items I go to H&M, Next or Primark. I've never worked in an environment that requires formal dress code so can't help there unfortunately.

BattledoreAndShuttlecock · 19/03/2022 13:09

M&S and H&M for casual wear. Jigsaw and Hobbs for workwear (the latter two largely sourced from charity shops over the years).

Footballsundays6777 · 19/03/2022 13:10

New look , asos, river island for jeans. Going out dresses from SHEIN and a few work tops from
There good for work tops too

RumJerrySailorRum · 19/03/2022 13:33

Matalan
TK Maxx (I'm happy to have a right good rummage though)
Couple of boutique shops near me that sell Made in Italy stuff
Market stalls
Roman originals

Football is shein decent stuff? Ive always liked the look of it but wondered if it was all poor quality (like I find boohoo and asos are)

NETSRIK · 19/03/2022 13:41

Matalan
Made In Italy - only if I see it though, not online as some of the stitching is questionable!

SamphiretheStickerist · 19/03/2022 13:43

Sports Direct for tracksuit tops and bottoms.

Various online shops for bras and socks, shoes and boots.

Supermarkets for knickers and t-shirts.

Charity shops for everything else.

MyNameIsAngelicaSchuyler · 19/03/2022 13:45

Asos, the OUTNET, matches and net a Porter sales. Occasionally h&m, all saints, &OS, cos.

Brand Alley
Nobody’s Child
M&S

Only in the sales though

Cherrysoup · 19/03/2022 17:19

Ebay for yard/dog walking sweatshirts, Pretty Little Thing for trousers for work/casual as they give measurements and even ASOS Tall isn’t long enough, which really winds me up and they don’t tell you leg length, so useless.

Onlywomengivebirth · 19/03/2022 17:20

Zara mostly

GeneLovesJezebel · 19/03/2022 17:23

I tend to just order from Next. I don’t find anything when I browse the shops.

Blackmagicqueen · 19/03/2022 17:24

Costco, asda, matalan, Next, tk max, online

BluebellsGreenbells · 19/03/2022 17:26

Lots of joggers in sports direct
Jeans - Next as they have stretch
Work wear Matalan for trousers
eBay for expensive trainers!
M&S in the sales

GeneLovesJezebel · 19/03/2022 17:28

I always used to buy Joni jeans from Top Shop. Anyone know if they’re exactly the same from ASOS ?

ALongHardWinter · 19/03/2022 18:16

I love Matalan.

Sexnotgender · 19/03/2022 18:18

OddSocksSparklyDocsandDungaree · 19/03/2022 18:23

ISmellBurnings · 19/03/2022 18:36

I bought some great ‘mom’ jeans from river island, never usually go in there!

I order from SilkFred or AX paris for dresses. Otherwise Jack Wills, oasis, warehouse. Sometimes asos.

BusyBeaMe · 19/03/2022 18:38

A bit of a mix- Boden, M and S, Next, mint Velvet, Sainsbury’s, Asda and White Co
