Under active thyroid people. I have a question!

Anyone ever pushed for a T3 test? My Levo dose has been stable for a long time but I’m getting symptoms which suggests that it isn’t. And I was reading that while you can be within the normal range bit being at optimal level can still lead to symptoms.

Anyone had this before? What did you do?

I’ve had an underactive thyroid for about 3 years and have checks every year (or more) to check that I’m on the correct level of medication. I recently had a check and my levels were smack bang in the middle of what’s considered normal with an underactive thyroid. I’d never heard of a T3 test but I guess that’s what they do yearly when they check it’s under control?

Was told levels were fine tough luck v v frustrating when I walk about knackered all the time

I take spray vit d which helps from Holland and barratt drink plenty but I feel like I’ve been run over a bus after a few busy days. I have no thyroid at all. Drs won’t change dose or really care tbh sorry not much help really am I

I asked my endocrinologist if I could try it.

He prescribed it. After 11 months my GP stopped the prescription (it's expensive and comes out of the GPs budget).

I wrote to my MP and endocrinologist - it was reinstated. I've been on it for years.

GP always trying to get it stopped - it wipes out the TSH level and currently mine is undetectable. I'm on 2 x 20 mcg a day along with 150 mcg T4.

If I don't take T3, I feel constantly cold and 'depressed'. T3 is better than an antidepressant - it makes me 'normal'. When I first started taking it I was dancing around the house and singing loudly to the radio - which kind of frightened my family.

I certainly know within the first hour of the day if I haven't taken it.

It's my life saver.
