We are a family of 4, hoping to go to west of Canada this summer. Probably go to Vancouver, Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper, Whistler. What is the cheapest way of travelling round?

You'll pretty much have to hire a car to go to those places. There's not really any other realistic option.

I had a brilliant holiday with an organised tour company whereby we got a coach from Calgary to Vancouver with stops at Banff, lake Louise, kamloops then Vancouver and we had a few days on Vancouver island. I was single at the time so don't know on the family holiday practicalities of it. Could you hire a car and do a different drop off?

Canada is fantastic, I'ld love to go back and redo that trip.

Yes, I was thinking that car hire will probably be the way to go! I was wondering about train or coach, but suspect that either of these would work out expensive for 4 people.

Years ago I went to all those places via greyhound coaches. Wasn’t overly expensive as you could buy a hopper ticket that allowed you to get off and on where you wanted on a fixed route (included most of those places). That was a long while ago so things might be different now but worth looking into.

If you feel confident driving then a hire car would give more flexibility.
