Anyone else been fleeced by hello fresh?

My friend sent me a voucher for a free box so I set up an account and went through the motions. The voucher didn’t work and I was charged £50. I spoke to someone in love chat who confirmed it was there error, the box would be cancelled and no money would be taken. Next day, £50 went out of my account. Phoned them up and explained all this to be told I’d get a refund in 3-5 business days!!

Anyway, fast forward it’s been 5 business days, no refund, no box (obviously) I’ve rang twice and asked for someone higher up to contact me, had nothing. I have paid £50 for diddly squat, I didn’t even want it in the first place but thought a free box would be nice as I’ve heard good things about HF.

Anyone else had problems with them? How can I get my money back?!

Get the customer complaints head details and send a sharp email

They are being crap but I doubt they are deliberately fleecing you

Hmm think it’s probably just an unfortunate error that is taking a while to resolve rather than them trying to fleece you.

But this isn't acceptable. Taken in error it should be refunded immediately

Yes definitely post on twitter or messenger and it will be picked up by them,I complained about a return to a company and had not received the refund the complaint was picked up and I received the refund 3/4 days later.

OP shouldn’t need to wait that long. Some people can’t afford to be £50 out of pocket!

They’re shite.

I tried them and the first couple of boxes was great and then they started swapping stuff out because I’m in Northern Ireland.

Ended up with stuff I wouldn’t have chosen.

Then they sent a big long list of stuff they couldn’t send to NI.

Wasn’t worth it for me

It wasn't worth it for me they promised loads of gluten free healthy children friendly options and I got bangers and mash with wheat sausages pork chops you could read the newspaper through and mash spaghetti with gluten pasta I complained they said they had no idea I was gluten intolerant (literally subbing in gluten for non gluten every order) and perhaps I could just leave the wheat product out? Hmm because that sounds logical 🤔

Yes, I had v similar experience after I tried to use a voucher from a friend. Ironically my kind friend had sent me the voucher to help us out when my daughter was sick and we were struggling. HF made it worse not better by delivering (and charging us) for weeks of additional food we didn't ask for and couldn't really afford at that time.

I ordered with a fifty per cent discount and the first box had a meal change. Contacted them,they said oh sorry, shortages due to covid, here's a free box on us.

Every box was totally different to what I ordered from then on. I was ok with the substitution as I am.not my fussy children, but it caused so much hassle over who would eat what.

I had a lengthy online chat and basically got refunded all my.money but also ended up with a sixty pound credit on my hello fresh account

I spoke to one of their team on twitter last night who said the theyd made a mistake by doing two boxes, refunding me the free one (so no refund) and then last night put a refund for the one they have charged me for so I now have to wait about her 3-5 business days!!

I told them this will put my account in arrears. They said there’s nothing they can do as it’s all down to how long my bank takes to process it, which is bollocks- the problem is they refunded me a free box. I asked if they can do anything else as a goodwill gesture and they said they can email me future offers! I DONT WANT FUTURE OFFERS as that’s what’s got me here in the first place.

I am still waiting over a week later for a manager to get in touch with me. I really need that £50 but just don’t know what to do.

Who do you bank with OP? I always get my refunds the following working day and I am with Santander
