Covid again within 5.5 weeks..

Just that really. We had done okay / been lucky until this year. All 4 of us have just tested positive again for the second time, within 5.5 weeks. School is saying another 5 days + two negative tests. Last time it took over 10 days for us all to get clear results. So it's possibly another 2 weeks off work and school. (DH has a manual job so has to physically go into work he was really unwell last time). I could work from home but find juggling work and Uber family very hard.

Anyway not too sure why I am posting other than it is so so quick to get it again... Just disappointed I think of reinfection and scared how often this could happen and disrupt life.

You don’t need to test negative if your ten days of isolating are up. It’s not that you have to test negative to end isolation, it’s that you can end isolation early if you test negative on days five and six.

Could they be false positives from your previous infection?

DirtyDancing · 18/03/2022 13:26

@Hospedia is that possible? We had negative LFs last time after being unwell. So would be strange for it to be the same virus maybe?

We are not allowed back at the school until we have negative LFs on day 5&6 we have been told

Are you unwell ?

Boscoforever · 18/03/2022 13:33

You can get reinfected.
If you have had covid, unless you have symptoms, you do not need to test again for 90 days, as you can have a false positive.
However, there have definitely been more cases of people getting covid again, even after 5/6 weeks. Maybe due to having had delta and then omicron?
Why did you test again, did you have symptoms?

Well, we are all full of cold. Absolutely shocking colds. My youngest is beyond tired (found her cloned back in bed with her school uniform on) and my DS couldn't keep his eyes open at breakfast. They have fevers, we do not.
