Bloody hell, it's a bit early for mosquitos isn't it?!

I've been bitten on the foot by a bastard mosquito last night. I heard the fucker buzz in my ear as I was dropping off to sleep but thought I was dreaming Confused

When I woke up I found this and it was itching like mad. I don't think I've got any mosquito stuff but I will look in my messy drawer of random junk are there any home remedies to soothe the itching at 1am?

I did find the fucker in the morning so know its not a mutant spider bite or something Grin

Ice might help? Or an antihistamine?

TibetanTerrah · 18/03/2022 01:26

Oh good idea. I have one anti histamine left in the packet so hopefully that will help until the shops open. I've put sudocrem on it but I think its only taken the very edge off the itching and made it impossible to scratch Confused

Absolute bastard! Why eat me!! Sad

Blast with a hot hairdryer

Or just scratch the fuck out of it

Or just scratch the fuck out of it

Stop it Grin it doesn't help that I'm a chronic nail biter so feebly rubbing my chewed stumps on it will probably be more frustrating Grin

Dip a teaspoon in hot water and press it down on the bite! Obviously be careful not to burn yourself, but get it as hot as you can tolerate. Discovered this by accident a few years ago - it works like a dream!

TibetanTerrah · 18/03/2022 06:50

@BonesJones that sounds horrific! I don't think I'm brave enough as it's now swelled to a blister Confused I have to walk half an hour each way to an appointment in about an hour, I'm not sure if I should put a plaster on it or if I'll even get my shoe on

My friend did not even get out of the airport at Portugal before being eaten alive!

I forgot my mozzie stuff in Turkey and I was fine. Went to Bruges and the last thing on my mind was mozzies....My friend and I were eaten alive every night!!

Justanotherobserver · 18/03/2022 07:40

That looks a lot like a Blandford fly bite. OH had one once and the blister was just like that and it looked like half a tomato stuck to his ankle.

Hope you get it sorted out okay, Deathraystare. I'm sympathetic as every biting insect on the planet has my number and I generally start getting bitten about February, though it's gnats at that point.

TibetanTerrah · 18/03/2022 09:12

I heard and saw a mozzie so it must just be a weird reaction?

I didn't put a plaster on it, but I did stick a load of sudocrem with a thick wad of tissue on it. I'm just walking back and its itching and I'm not sure if it's burst Envy

Fuck sake, are they back? 😭😭😭😭

I was bitten so many times last year, including my forehead and I swell up and then scar with every fucking bite even if I manage not to scratch.

Anthisan cream is the only thing that works for me.

TibetanTerrah · 18/03/2022 09:54

I hope not @SilverHairedCat Sad I'm in the south east so one of the warmer parts of the country, but it's hardly been what I would call mosquito weather!

It hasn't burst. Maybe i should post in sporner corner ...

I get bitten by everything going and I work outside too, so if I don't use repellent it's relentless. I've tested everything on the market and have found that this stuff actually works for pretty much everything: www.smidgeup.com

No deet and it doesn't reek or make you greasy either. Actually smells very inoffensive, a bit like melon. An absolute godsend.
