I don’t like my paint colour choice

Accidentally ordered the wrong paint for my hall but thought I’d go for it anyway and hope for the best but I really don’t like it. It was called Clay and I imagined a stoney colour which looked good initially.

Now it just looks like magnolia. It’s very yellow.

Is there anyway I can take away the yellow colour….? Any accessories which would help tone it down? Or do I repaint?

Sympathies OP, choosing paint is awful.

You could try changing the bulbs to something cooler to see if it takes away any yellow. Does it look yellow at all times of the day and in natural light?

I always begrudgingly repaint but hate doing it and hate the waste (paint, time, money) but if you hate it you hate it.

Have you tried putting pictures up?

This is a photo but it’s worse in real life

Oh I actually rather like it! I can imagine it in a fancy classical home, with built in painted bookshelves and a piano!! I think it could be really good with bright white skirting/architraves, and the right pictures.

Sorry, that might not help you, but give it a couple of days and see if you get used to it. Tbf I've had an issue before where I ended up with a way too pink wall, and ended up forking out to get it repainted (and so glad I did). But this colour of yours isn't offensive at all and could definitely be zhuzhed up a bit by accessories.

I can also imagine it in a miss Marple type cottage Grin. Which is a good thing as far as I'm concerned, though understand it might not be to your taste. (I realise I'm getting more old fashioned by the week)

I like that! I wouldn’t call it magnolia. I often despair after decorating but with your things in the room and on the wall I bet it’ll look great,

theoctoalert · 16/03/2022 22:42

I like it too. Maybe live with it a bit and see if it grows on you!

pawpaws2022 · 16/03/2022 22:55

I quite like that and I hate magnolia! It looks sort of classy stone like
