Worried about my mum.

She's had a lump found in a routine mammogram and had to go in for a biopsy and some scans. They told her it was small but 'very worrying' so my mum is pretty sure it's the big C.

I don't really know about these things, can anyone tell me what they think this would mean if I doctor has said this and if it's the worst, what to expect?

She's 70 if that makes any difference.

Sorry your mum and you are going through this worrying time. My friend had a lump that was confirmed as cancer and she had a lumpectomy and radiotherapy and that was it. She could have had a mastectomy if she chose to be on the safe side. If it is cancerous they can do some excellent testing to see how best to treat the type of cancer my friends was sent over to the states (well a bit of it) to see if chemo was required and what exact type it was.
I would say just take it appointment by appointment and remember many cases are very treatable and have a good long term outcome.

Also the health board on here has lots of similar chats and advice to read through.
