76 year old Dad housing problems - currently lodging

My Dad who is 77 on Friday is currently lodging in London. It is very unusual circumstances in that he was quite wealthy and through a number of poor decisions and bad luck was without somewhere to live that was his own within a period of about 2 years. He did work abroad up until nearly 70 but broke his leg in the country he was working in and although it is working it has given him mobility problems forevermore. Anyway, this week his landlady has said she will be putting the rent up and he can't afford it. I live in a different part of the southeast and have gone down the route of social housing for the over 60s on his behalf for my county and got on to the waiting list for Anchor housing in the Midlands which is where he is from originally. Can anyone advise on anything else we can do? Does anyone know any websites that focus on house shares for older people or bedsits/studios? I am a bit desperate on his behalf.

Have you tried the housing associations. I saw some retirement flats in Surrey yesterday through clarion for £392 per month for the over 55’s.

My dad needs to down size after losing my mum.

Might be an idea to check the Almshouse association for vacancies near you or near to the area he would like to live.

Check all housing associations in area he would want to move to Guinness Housing association seem to have a number of properties available in Greater Manchester and Cheshire for over 55s.
Not sure if that's any help
