Just went to prepare dinner and noticed the meat is one day past use by Blush. My head is telling me it's fine but part of me worries I'll makes us all sick. It smells fine. What would you do?

If the packet hasn't blown and it smells fine, I would, definitely!

Trust your nose, honestly, it'll be fine.

Eat it.

RamblingFar · 16/03/2022 14:30

I expect it will be absolutely fine.

Food doesn't go off over night. Just make sure it doesn't smell bad.

Personally I wouldn't as I've had food poisoning before and it was horrific. The colour of it should tell you. If the colour has changed or dulled then nope! (Especially if from Aldi! They're notorious for meat going off before the use by date)

BlackCatTabbyCat · 16/03/2022 14:47

Thanks everyone I feel reassured now.

@MotherofAutism the colour hadn't dulled at all which surprised me as like you say Aldi meat usually does even before the use by but this looked normal.

Hopefully we'll be fine it's cooking away Grin.
