Is my new smart meter broken?

Hi all,

I had a smart meter fitted at lunchtime, never had one before.
A bit confused by the readings though. Earlier, when the heating was on, the gas display was showing £223,000 per hour. Now the heating has gone off the display has dropped to £83,849 per hour instead.
However the next screen says we’ve used £1.43 of gas in the 8 hours since the meter was installed - what on earth is going on and who do I speak to tomorrow to fix it?

It probably hasn't connected properly with your supplier yet, and the tariff is wrong! I'd take photos of your 'proper' meter readings everyday, until it settles. Just in case they send you a crazy bill, but I'm sure it will work itself out.

I had one fitted today too!
I boiled some spuds on the hob for 10 minutes. My smart meter said that it would cost me £12k.
I was told by the chap that installed it that it can take 72 hours for readings to settle down.
So, don't worry about it. You wont get a shock when your bill comes.
