So bored in my new job!

Just started a new job, and though everyone is really nice, I'm sooo bored! I'm used to a fast paced job where I'm always doing something, and I seem to just be twiddling my thumbs most of the time. I keep asking for things to do, and I'm trying to be proactive, but the lady who is supposed to be giving me work is just getting on with her own stuff, while complaining she's busy

I've told her a few times today that I need things to do and she keeps saying she'll give me something but so far nothing - hence why I'm on MN! What do I do??

presumably this isn’t what you expected from the job description etc. Is there someone higher up you can talk to?

Maybe it’s early days yet and just getting settled in. Have you taken over from someone? How much autonomy do you have? Have you got induction stuff to get on with?

It's been two weeks now, and there's barely been any induction (it's a fairly small company). I'm happy to work autonomously but I need to know what I'm doing! It's just really frustrating - I HATE doing nothing. Sorry, just basically having a moan!
