What to put over baby in the buggy in spring?

I have an Uppababy Vista V2 and the Uppababu Ganoosh footmuff to go with it. It has been amazing during the winter but its clearly getting too warm for it now as DD (9 months but a fairly petite 7kg) was a bit clammy when i took her out of it at the weekend. Is it best to switch to a cheaper lighter footmuff? Just go for a blanket? We have a tuppence & crumble starwrap but wasn't sure if that would be enough on its own? Any suggestions?

I used to dress DS in similar weight clothing/ layers to myself, then add a double-layered jersey blanket on cooler days, with a lighter-weight knitted throw if it was milder. The wind was the biggest problem, as you can get warm sunny days with a cold wind. I tried using the plastic cover but then he'd scream blue murder.
