Asda home delivery - do they text before delivery?

I usually shop with Morrisons but had some vouchers! Morrisons always text and email before delivery with info on substitutions, I was expecting the same from Asda. I have an order due today between 12-2 pm but haven't heard anything. When I look online it says the order is being prepared.
Is this normal for Asda?

They don't always text.

Onceuponatimeinalandfaraway · 14/03/2022 13:17

Yes they do but hours before and they don’t include any useful info in the text.

For a 12-2pm delivery
08:29 sorry one product not available and three substitutes. Hand back anything you don’t want. Link
10:29 Asda driver is on the way. Link
They turned up at 1:40 ish

For an 8-10pm delivery I got
12:17 sorry your order has 1 substitute plus link that takes you to the log in page.
16:02 your driver is on the way, go to order details for more info link.
They turned up with my delivery shortly before 9pm.

Neither time did the driver point out to me what the subs were or what was missing and I didn’t get any printed info or receipt.

I’ll be dropping them again as soon as my own vouchers run out. I’m not impressed, I’ve not tried Morrisons but Asda is by far the worst in my experience of the rest that offer delivery. I stopped using them 20 years ago because they kept bringing fresh things and meat that needed used the day after delivery and I’ve only gone back now because of the vouchers.

WibbleWobbleWibble · 14/03/2022 13:36

Hmmm I'm not impressed.

I have just called customer services who helpfully told me that it's not coming and the store should have told me.

NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!

This is very disappointing. I have used Asda for years - 12-15 years, can't remember exactly but a very long time and only twice have they not delivered and that was because of snow (we live up a hill).

They do email with details of substitutions or items not available. I agree that when they text to say the delivery driver is on his way, he could still be a long time.

I wonder if it is a regional thing - I am in the NW.

iwantmyownicecreamvan · 14/03/2022 14:00

Sorry, forgot to say that when they couldn't deliver the driver telephoned me himself.

ilovesooty · 14/03/2022 14:23

I've used Asda for a couple of years. They always text and email regarding unavailable or substituted items in my experience.

Onceuponatimeinalandfaraway · 14/03/2022 14:23

OP I’ve used some of my vouchers on the George side of Asda. I’ve never had any issues with them for delivery or for click and collect in my local tiny Asda.

WibbleWobbleWibble · 14/03/2022 14:30

No email or text, order still showing as "being prepared" customer service can only tell me that there has been a technical issue and the store should have called me but they can't call the store themselves to find out and I can't call the store as they don't accept calls.
To add insult to injury an Asda delivery van drove by about 20 mins ago.......so someone is getting their shopping.

Op we're in SW and had similar about 10d ago.
No text no delivery. Finally i called at 7pm and they said not coming (was due 12:30-1:30. They couldnt say why but it was clearly covid.
I made mistake of rebooking for next day.
Then call 9am no delivery we had to collect 5-8pm and bearing in mind this was in a city it was quite a drive at least 20 min.
Basically loads of people had been moved to click and collect.
So we got the food but had paid extra for delivery we didnt get.
And 3 products went off too soon
1 on day of original delivery - dp accidentally ate a day over it was sandwich filler so with mayo, and obviously then wasnt going to last 2 days
2 lots of turkey slices went off on day we collected so had gone off before we realised.
So we had nothing for sandwiches.

Anyway unfortunately they had also given dp someone elses crate. So i was going - how could you think this was ours!

So they had huge issues with sorting out stock /checking dates.
Poor customer service not letting people know. I mean i said its not on as people may needbread or milk.
And im certain they knew as like you no text ...

WibbleWobbleWibble · 14/03/2022 15:12

At this point I would go and get it but i can't get any sense from anyone!
