8 yo DD greasy hair and dandruff- help!

8 year old DD's hair is a nightmare. It was washed last night and it already looks noticeably greasy again this morning. I worry that her Teacher will think she's neglected as her hair never looks totally clean. She also has dandruff and is starting to get really self conscious about it.

We've tried so many different shampoos for dandruff/greasy hair. Spent a fortune and none of them work. We recently thought we had success with a pantene one and I was so relieved but after a couple of weeks it stopped working and it was greasy again!

Has anyone else's DC had this problem and found a magic solution? I fear it's only a matter of time before someone at school comments on it and she will be really upset.

Neutroogena T gel used to be good.

It sounds like it's the build up of 'cones' and you need a clarifying shampoo. Have you tried the Ginger shampoo from the body shop? Nizoral is good to use every few weeks too or T Gel.

Body Shop ginger shampoo. It got rid of my dandruff (I've been using it for years) and now DD uses it and it's got rid of her build up, dandruff and greasy hair.

I think this is ever so common. Head and Shoulders has been a game changer for us. DD leaves it on for a couple of minutes and follows with a really big rinse.

Dts had the same and the finger body shop shampoo has really helped. Also washing their hair less and making sure they rinse it all out properly

My daughter’s hair is like this. We found the head and shoulders for greasy hair worked quite well.

But our favourite is this one.

It is expensive but it lasts a long time. I wash her hair twice with the shampoo (only a small amount of shampoo each time) and then use conditioner only on the ends of her hair.

We've tried lots of shampoos for my teenage sons greasy hair, the most successful has been the cheapest one... Lidl Apple shampoo for greasy hair. Make sure you wash it twice and rinse well.

Another recommendation for the body shop ginger shampoo and conditioner. My DD(12) had a similar issue with greasiness and dandruff and this is the only thing that's fixed it. Her hair looks so healthy and shiny.

Thank you all so much for the replies. We've tried Head and Shoulders and the Lidl one. We haven't tried the Body Shop ginger shampoo though so will give that a go!

See if you can find a body shop at home person near you. I have one and she gives really good discounts on stuff. The bigger bottle is usually £10 but she charges me £6 a bottle.

I use boots Anti-dandruff shampoo on dd and it really helps with her dandruff. She doesn’t have an issue with greasy hair so can’t advise if it will help that.
