Anyone successfully been reunited with a lost special toy?

Absolutely gutted for DD. We have left her most precious possession in a hotel in France. She is 13 and has had the thing since a baby.

Feel terrible as I should have/could have reminded her to pack it. The hotel will ask housekeeping in the morning but it’s almost the same colour as the sheets and I’m not hopeful anyone will have spotted it.

I need to hear some of some successful reunions! Hopefully!

Yes. A much loved turtle was left in an airport ten years ago and his absence only discovered once the plane was in the air. Incredibly, the airline called back to the ground and someone tracked it down and sent it by a later plane to our holiday destination. He's currently tucked up in the bed of a lanky 18 year old who is heading off to uni in October with the turtle very much in tow.

People are very kind and will do their best in these situations. I really hope it turns up for her. Fingers crossed.

My sons bear came everywhere, until he stopped wanting to come with us. Lost in a French hotel en route to the South of France. Picked up on the return journey safely.
Bear also spent a night in the bat enclosure at the Durrell zoo in Jersey. Had to do a bus journey from the other end of the Island the next day. Younger bear had a couple of days in a Charity shop soft toy bin. Luckily the volunteer saw he might be a bit too well loved and rescued him.
So yes, fingers crossed.

Check that you have spoken with the hotel laundry. Stray toys are often swept up in the sheet change so while the hotel housekeeping won’t have seen it, their laundry will have the orphan toy. Happened to us. We got the toy back cleaner than any point since she’d been about 3!! Good luck

DD1 left her favourite teddy in the toilets at a non-local wildlife park. We didn't think we would ever see him again but we called them and the rangers went on a search for him and were lucky. He was then posted back to us and even though she's now 18 he still sits on the end of her bed.

Good luck, I hope they find it for your DD.

Yes, about 30 years ago. DSis left a toy in a French hotel, DM rang them when we'd got home, and they'd found it, and posted it back to us, so don't lose hope!

Many years later, DH and I left a bag full of dirty laundry in an Australian B&B. The owner not only posted in back to us in the UK but had washed and ironed it first. There are some nice people out there, and it's always a lesson to pay it forward if you can.

This may well out me in RL. We left behind my dd soft toy in a hotel in Australia. I emailed and the staff sent us a photo of it. I had a friend who was going to pass through the town in a couple of months before heading back to the UK. I told the hotel staff that it would be collected in about 8 weeks and they sent us weekly photos of the toy in various locations around the hotel.
We then drove 4 hours to be reunited with it back home.
Said toy will be under dd covers tonight.

Yes! DD’s precious teddy was lost on the short walk into town one day when she was only 3. Steps retraced and no sign. Devastated was not the word. It broke my heart 😭

He suddenly reappeared bedraggled but unharmed on a fence post en route about a week later! It felt like a miracle.

My child lost a much loved toy ( think along the lines of a small soft toy from a magazine) when we were out shopping. I called the shops we had visited within the hour of returning home. It was lost in tk maxx, a staff member had picked it up, put a price sticker on it and placed it on the shelf! It was so dirty I don't know how they ever could ever confuse it with stock. We luckily got it back and to this day it is still with us

Left dd toys in a holiday cottage. The duvets were so soft and fluffy we disnt spot they were still there. Called the place and they asked the cleaning staff but they had assumed they were the toys from the cottage.
Toys sent a postcard to dd saying they were sorry they stayed but had had such a great time they wanted to stay an extra week and were posted back to her a week later

BeaLola · 14/03/2022 11:06

Yes - DS left his small white bear (I wouldn't let him take his beloved favourite with him in case it got lost !) in the bed whilst we were on holiday in Turkey - asked guest services, cleaners , everyone but yo no avail and we had big tears (at this point despite feeling awful I was soooo glad I hadn't let him take his favourite away) ..... anyhow a couple of days later we returned to our room to find the little white bear (dazzling white) perched on the pillows - the laundry team had eventually found him.

Crossing everything that you are as lucky

Thank you for the stories and the positive vibes.

Toy happily has been found and should be on its way back via FedEx. Phew.
