Feeling as though food is lodged in ribs.

Has anyone experienced this? I get it occasionally usually when eating bread, or rice, more so with boiled rice. It's rather painful and very annoying. It usually happens a few bites into my meal, so not when I'm full.

I can eat bread and rice most of the time without issue but now and again I feel as though it's lodged in my ribs and it's very annoying. If it was just with bread I might think it's possibly a mild gluten intolerance but it happens with rice too.

Does anyone else have this issue?

TIA

Try drinking water between bites.

I get this.

I have a hiatus hernia and suffer from reflux.

It is easily controlled using
a Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) - medicines that work by reducing the amount of stomach acid made by glands in the lining of your stomach. I take omeprazole.

I get this sometimes and I have a hiatus hernia and DH gets it because he eats too fast.
It’s often food not clearing your oesophagus into your stomach before the next mouthful hits.
Sip water between mouthfuls.

Thanks all. I'm a slow eater but I'll try the water thing. If it persists I may see my Dr though it doesn't happen too often but it's very frustrating when it does.
