Are items much more expensive or is food scarce yet?

Poorly. Just, you know, a guess.

There is very little info coming from the ordinary Russians.

It’s hard to know. You can’t trust what Russia says and Putin’s putting more and more restrictions on the people which makes it difficult for them to express their views/ any discontent. This article from the BBC shows people are definitely leaving though.

I spoke to a Russian colleague, who has always been a Putin fan. She said that the war was terrible, but that Russia would be fine with the sanctions as they produce so much in Russia, and have a good relationship with the Chinese. Hmmm, not sure. But I smiled and nodded

I was wondering the same thing.
Their buying power with the Chinese will be reduced with the rouble losing value.
Higher unemployment due to all the western businesses pulling out. More focus on Russian produce.

It will be a mess for them, from what I gather many Russians had a very good standard of living, this will be awful for them.. Obviously not nearly on the scale of the poor Ukrainians but will it be enough to overthrow Putin?
