Do you use Facebook? Can you help a newbie?

Can you explain how the messaging part works? I've got a new account & reached out to an old uni friend via messenger. Can you turn off all your notifications so that you don't receive messages like mine? I'm wondering how long to wait before I give up expecting an answer. Is there a better way to message someone through FB? Many thanks

If you are not Facebook friends it will go to her spam folder and yes she will get a notification if she uses messenger.

You would be better off sending her a friend request as then if she accepts your messages will go straight to her inbox.

I don't use messenger, if someone messages me I'm not told about it. I've missed messages for months at a time. I just don't think of it tbh, not that I'm actively avoiding people.

It could have gone to her junk box if not friends on Facebook ( so she may not have seen it ). I would send her a friends request.

As above, most probably in junk box. Friend request would be best. I never knew there was a junk box so have missed lots of messages.
