Have you kept your childhood hobbies?

What were your childhood hobbies and have you kept up with them as an adult?

I didn't really have any hobbies or go to classes as such as my parents weren't very well off, but one consistent for me has been cycling. My bike was my pride and joy as a kid and I still try to cycle as much as possible. Would like to join a club but not sure if relaxed cycling clubs exist? Seems you have to be a hardcore lycra head.

I have alway read a lot and run and cycled so I guess I have.
Have a look for Breeze cycling groups. Laid back women only.

I loved computer games from a young child (spectrum and BBC micro) and love them still now (xbox one)

Just done a masters that covered video game law too!

oh and still love reading but a bit less Enid Blyton these days!

I've just gone back to tap dancing after a 45 yr break. Amazing how quickly it comes back, doubt there'll be medals this time around though.
Now the dc are grown up it's great getting back into old and new hobbies other than reading and telly.

Childhood hobbies - musical instruments

Started singing lessons early 30s and joined a choir.

So quite a break in the hobbies but picked it up again.

I wish I still did horse riding. I love horses, but it's not possible where I live and don't have the time - working full time, teen DCs and busy with my other big childhood hobby, music, which I've never let go.

I have a fantasy that I'll volunteer in a horse rescue centre on retirement

Childhood hobby - running. Ran competitively during my teens and half marathons as soon as I hit 17. Stopped to have children in mid 20’s.
Have tried a lot of times to get back into it but something always hurts when I try!! Would LOVE to be able to run again

Mine was roller skating.

I've just recently restarted at age 51.
It's been a combination of terrifying, a little bit mortifying due to embarrassing wipe-outs but fun.

I recently went to a trampoline park and it was so much fun, on the day. I felt like I was dying the next three days.

My granddaughter loves to jump rope and hula-hoop, just like I did as a child. I'm secretly trying to re-learn both to show her that I can do it too. I really need to build up more stamina. I can barely jump without needing an inhaler and the bruises from the rope are a bit much. But I'll get there eventually.

My only hobbies were reading and baking. I still do both, but less frequently now with a full time job and a toddler.
He enjoys helping me cook 🤣
Dh has always played the guitar and gone to the gym, those hobbies have continued, especially the guitar, because ds loves it. He isn't such a fan of me sitting quietly reading 🤣 he does however like to decorate biscuits.

I did dancing. I had an adult ballet phase before DCs and dip in and out of yoga amongst other fitness.

I learnt to swim as a teenager. That's still going.

I did the DoE award. I don't get enougn chance to hike but trail running fills that gap.

VioletCharlotte · 12/03/2022 15:27

I still love animals, swimming and reading, but i used to dip in and out of hobbies as a child. I did gymnastics, dancing, drama, clarinet, recorder, netball, basketball, athletics, trampolining, brownies and guides, but never really stuck at anything!
