Question about charging laptop and saving electric

With the energy bill increases i am looking at cutting back as much as possible. On the days I am wfh is it better to leave my laptop plugged in all day or just switching it on when it needs charged? I've read contradictory things about it. I don't have a full PC set up, just the laptop with an external keyboard and mouse. Thanks!

Ultimately you will still be using the same amount of electricity and the same amount of power.

It's not going to be a lot though. A laptop power consumption is about 50 watts. It's going to need that power whether it comes from a charger or if you run it off a battery that's been charged with power you supply.

You could of course charge it at work, and then bring it home to run off the battery at home. Might save you 10p a day

Thanks, I didn't think it would be a huge saving to be fair! I have been reading some threads of here about the energy prices and one poster mentioned how much less electric was being used since her OH started back in the office, so it got the cogs turning a bit!
