Pocket money for a 10 year old?

How much? What does it cover?
Overheard a discussion between 10 year olds about their pocket money. One spends as she gets it, although horrified her younger brother has spent all his Christmas money already (200), she's expected to buy presents and e.g. if the family goes to the cinema, to pay for her popcorn etc. One says it's better to save it because driving lessons are expensive. DD chipped in that she's saving hers for a house. One is saving up for a scooter. All very cute!

DD doesn't get pocket money, although IL's put money in her account every birthday. She has asked for some.

How much do you give your 10 year olds? What do you expect them to use it for?
E.g. if your child likes a creative activity like drawing, would you expect them to buy their own paper, pencils etc beyond the basic?
Do you link it to chores? Grades? Can they earn extra?
