Is there supposed to be a “special” gift for a 16th birthday?

My son will be 16 next month and I’m wondering if there’s a “special” gift you buy for a 16th birthday and if so then what should that be for a boy?
I’m thinking along the lines of a piece of jewellery, something special really. Not a watch as he has an Apple Watch so he wouldn’t wear it.
I’ve got him a big (not in size but in price) main present which is something he really wanted and will be getting him a few extra bits to go with it such as clothing for the gym, some matcha kitkats and chocolates and maybe a couple of other small bits for his bedroom but I don’t want to leave out an important milestone gift if there is traditionally one given!

Are milestone birthdays not traditionally 18 and 21?

I thought that might be the case but I wasn’t sure if 16 was one aswell! I don’t know why I’m feeling like it is but I suppose with leaving school and starting college, perhaps it is?

No, I don't think so. It's usually a bit token piece for their 18th and 21st.
