Help with travel covid test

Mlpnko · 10/03/2022 20:41

I know google should be my friend here, but I am so confused (typical for me with things like this!) I need to book a covid travel test with the following spec:
-covers travel to the USA (can't seem to figure out if I need to have a PCR or if the cheaper test is ok)
-has appointments on a Sunday
-is in the Greater London area (I am willing to travel)
-is a place where someone will do the test on me (for various reasons I am unable to do it on myself)

Can anyone please help me??

I flew to the US last week. You need a lateral flow rapid antigen test done within one day of your departure time.

I can recommend Covid Test Centre. They have several locations in London and are very efficient!

Just a warning…it was much more difficult (and expensive) to find a test to fly back!

Thank you for your reply. I will google your recommendation now. Do you know if they can do the test for you? I didn't even realise I had to do a test coming back...!!! I thought the UK had lifted those restrictions 🤦‍♀️!

When I google Covid Test Centre I just seem to get all the test centres for non travel. Do you please have a link?

The test to return to the U.K. was dropped some time ago

Anonymousoctopus · 10/03/2022 22:19

They do the test for you. I think they have to for a travel certificate.

The website is www.coronatestcentre.com I’m sorry, I don’t know how to do a link, I’m new!

Project screen offer an observed lateral flow test for entry to US. We used these when colleagues flew to NY a few weeks ago.

It's basically a video call with them while you take the lateral flow at home.

Looks like the magic of Mumsnet did the link for me!

That would be the much more straight forward option if it wasn't for the fact I can't do the test on myself. This complicates things somewhat!

Can you just have it done at the airport?

HangingOver · 10/03/2022 23:11

I work for a place in Marylebone that does in clinic lateral flow tests on a Sunday for £39 if that's any good.

HangingOver · 10/03/2022 23:12

Sorry as in the nurse does it for you and they send you the results certificate in about 30 mins.

HangingOver · 10/03/2022 23:17

I'm going to sleep but I PMd you the link

Mlpnko · 10/03/2022 23:28

You need to check with the testing centre. Some advertise supervised self-administered tests, others do it for you.
