Can you be thin and insulin resistant?

I have a load of skin tags and have recently been tired a lot (although sleeping fine) and I was wondering about seeing the GP about blood sugar / IR / potential diabetes. But a lot of online stuff says you would gain weight and I haven’t.

Should have said no weight fluctuations for info, consistently about a 10-12.

I have insulin resistant PCOS

I'm a size 8

I think it’s rarer but still possible

I’m insulin resistant, my hba1c was 6.1 despite being borderline underweight (bmi of 18.5) and mostly eating low carb (not strict keto though).

In my case it may also be related to the fact I have pcos / hyperadrogenism. Took me ages to get diagnosed from a GP despite having severe pcos symptoms (except I’m very lean) - much worse than overweight women with pcos too.

Apologies it may not be relevant to you OP, but have to say from my experience most GPs don’t seem to take pcos related insulin resistance very seriously if you’re not overweight.

On the other hand, if you happen to be overweight with pcos they think it’s as simple as “just lose weight”

The condition is still poorly treated in my opinion Sad

Thanks cpox I think you’re right. I did wonder about PCOS a while ago (I have acne) but GP wouldn’t do tests. I wonder if I went back with more symptoms now whether they’d do anything?
