Eyelash extensions - did they damage your own eyelashes?

Thinking of getting them done for a wedding/holiday. I have just heard different opinions about whether they damage your own eyelashes which I obviously don't want. Just wondered others experience?

I also don't plan to have them done constantly. Will they look really silly when they are half fallen out as I read you shed them when your own eyelashes shed.

I know a lot of people have the lash lift instead but my lashes are quite short so I don't think that would do much for me.

I had them for a short time and my natural lashes are absolutely fine. Had my first full set at the end of November, had a first set of infills then I got a new job and my hours changed so I had to stop.

I used cleansing oil on my extensions and they gradually came off over a few weeks. I don’t remember them looking odd as that happened. After a few weeks I started using mascara which kind of blended them in a bit.

One set will be fine and not damage your lashes. It's usually cluster/volume lashes which are several false lashes put on one of your own lash that might damage because of the weight of them. If you have single to single which is usually called classic lashes it's fine. I would have them removed properly though after 2/3 weeks as they start to look scraggly if you leave them to fall off by themselves.

A one off set is fine. When I had them repeatedly they knackered my lashes. Took a good long while to grow back!

I had them nonstop for 4 years before Covid and my lashes were fine, my lash lady said I had loads! When you get down to the last few I wiggle them around to loosen them and they come off, they don't look very good with only 4 in each eye 😂

I had them once for a holiday, they were grand, no eyelash damage. I did, however, remove the last few myself because they looked a bit odd on their own.
