consider relocate from London to Dunfermline, or Dumfries with GCSE son. which one is better?

hi all, am new here and want to seek advice on subject above. Son has to sit for GCSE this summer and want to relocate to Scotland for more natural living environment. We had been passing through Dunfermline during last Oct and found this town quite peaceful. considering further education adaptations as well as any possible vacancy for my Son, of course considering employment opportunity as well. Dunfermline seem quite convenient as back to Edinburgh, but Dumfries seem also good? never been to Dumfries. would seek your advice and input. thank you all.

Dunfermline is more accessible to places such as art galleries, museums, cinemas and theatres, and even if you chose Edinburgh for further or higher education, not an unreasonable daily journey.

I went to Zoopla, rightmove and espc and looked into the area of Dunfermline, found the area is quire large and the indicator in simd is somehow very diverse. any idea which part of Dunfermline is more safe? as just me a single mom with my son living there. much thx.
