Yesterday's Semantle chat

A thread to discuss the word from yesterday's Semantle game without clogging the main thread about today's.
As it's a day late, there's no risk of Spoilers.

https://semantle.novalis.org/ is the game, but we're all about yesterday's word (which at the start of the thread was "Generous")

I think it was more about circling round things, or things that go round in a circle than the geometric shape or things that are circular.

Just makes no sense...you can 'circle' around anything, then, not especially a stick!! Oh well.

ZiaMcnab · 16/03/2022 16:01

I understand that I am almost always thinking of the near words I find in the wrong context but I am still FURIOUS about yesterday's word. If the context was circle as a verb or a direction descriptor (which it certainly seems to have been, as you all say) how the hell was "round" cold??!!!! Angry Confused

To be fair though, I think how infuriating Semantle is is part of the reason I get so consumed in it! Grin

This is very weird: I came on here to rant about bloody curriculum and my notifications tell me there are new posts from earlier this morning, but the last one I can see is mine from last Wednesday!

ZiaMcnab · 22/03/2022 10:17

Could some kind person please reply to this to see if I can see it?! I have been known to vent into the void before, but I prefer to avoid it if possible! Grin

InMySpareTime · 22/03/2022 12:48

I can see it, some days the word lists are not that discussable.

Curriculum had some odd cold words.
Vitae was nowhere, but is the word I'd use next to it most of the time.

Why was kite so close to craft?

ZiaMcnab · 23/03/2022 07:35

Thanks @InMySpareTime I think Mumsnet was just toying with me. Ikr, kite was the one that annoyed me most I think. Annoying because I can’t work it out and I think if I do I’d be able to crack this whole thing. Always the optimist, me!

InMySpareTime · 23/03/2022 07:40

I got so stuck yesterday with "things in the sky" then "things in the water" but airport and stewardess were cold. Wine was hot but glass was cold. Then I thought more bookishly and got to craft.

InMySpareTime · 23/03/2022 08:42

I got trapeze very early on yesterday so went off on a circus tangent and wasted loads of low guesses. My next high green guess was airplane. Couldn’t see the link

LemonDrizzles · 26/03/2022 07:50

I just got 977 and now stuck!

InMySpareTime · 26/03/2022 07:56

Yesterday or today? If today you're so close with 977! They go together.

OP posts:
InMySpareTime · 04/04/2022 09:35

Yesterday's word was direct, but my route there was anything but! I tried so many guesses I was actually running out of words.
