How long are enhancer DBS checks taking?

Hi,

I've just filled in an enhanced DBS form for a new job. Has anyone had one done recently? How long did it take to come back? Just trying to gauge when I will be able to start. I have been told not to give my current employer a leaving date until I have the DBS back as it can take up to 8 weeks. Would be great to hear of people getting them back sooner! I am excited to start! Thanks

In my workplace it's between 2-4 weeks for enhanced ones.

Mine has been stuck at the police checking stage since end of Jan!! A colleague did hers at the same time and it was back within a couple of weeks.
I gave up waiting and started another one. Hopefully it won't take long.

I did one recently for volunteering at my child’s school, and it came back within a week

It's likely to be fairly quick because it's not a busy time for school-related DBS checks

I don't know when all of these fast responses came back...we're finding it's taking ages at the moment unless you're signed up for the update service.

About a week for update service ones, over a month for new.

DH- last week- less than 7 days. 1st time application.

I have has some back literally over night others have taken a couple of weeks for ones I have put in this year.

12 days (this time I’ll remember to sign up to the update service), that includes a name change which I know can make them take a bit longer.

It's quicker if you've had a dbs check previously. ie if this is not your first one.

Mine went off this morning. My name has reverted back to my maiden name and I've just changed address, I'm guessing this makes it take longer? It would be interesting to know where the quicker ones are based as I've heard it can vary by location.
