Quick easy dessert to follow soup

Family are coming for lunch soon, and I'll literally have an hour to prepare whatever due to other arrangements already planned in the morning.

Am going to make a spicy lentil and chickpea soup and serve with crusty bread. Any ideas for dessert? To be honest I'd be happy with yogurt and fruit, but our visitors have good appetites.

Depends on what you have in your cupboards

Flapjacks to go with a cuppa?
I’ve made some today, they bake in 15 mins but do need time to cool before eating.

The caramel slices I made took over an hour so flapjacks seem really quick in comparison!

An easy lemon posset.

What have you got in?

If you have decent cupboard stocks, then maybe chocolate brownies, lemon drizzle cake, cherry loaf cake, chocolate mousse? All pretty quick to knock up.

Fruit tarts? Buy premade pastry and fill with cream and fruit?

Ready made pavlova and add to it if need be and you want to make out you have made it. Or chocolate brownies and cream

Crumble and cream. Custard if you have time. Or do a platter of cheese, crackers, grapes etc.

Sprig1 · 09/03/2022 15:41

I would just buy something ready made. Can you just see what takes your fancy at the supermarket?

Apple crumble and custard. Soup and bread can be filling but a hearty pudding would round it off.
