Is this normal? I've never been so ill before!

He develops some sniffles every now and then but I get full on colds that seem to last forever.
We are all fit and healthy over Christmas but it's back to normal again now, I've just come down with a crappy cold that's making my eyes fill with gunk.

Fed up with being ill all the time.

Is this normal?!

From what I've heard yes it is completely normal , I've been quite lucky with my baby and she's not been too bad but waiting for the bugs to come.

Completely normal! My DD started nursery at the end of last year and she has had illness after illness, been in hospital twice with chest infections and tonsillitis. DH and I haven't had colds for years but oh wow have we made up for it now...!

Our GP told us it was normal and to stock up on the Calpol!

Yes, totally normal. I lived on high doses of vitamin C, zinc and echinacea for 6 months every year and it helped a lot.

Yep.
It's been a crap winter for colds and bugs as everyone's immune systems are on catch up from being neglected for 18 months or so witg social distancing. A bit like turning the computer on after a while and it struggling with everything wanting updates.

It'll get better soon as the sunlight boosts vitamin D.

theoctoalert · 08/03/2022 20:22

Yes, it is normal I'm afraid. It will settle down, don't worry!

fromcitytocountry · 08/03/2022 20:22

Unfortunately our son picked up every possible bug going. It's been a year and whilst it's not as frequent, it's still far too regular. We've even had two bouts of norovirus in a year that have stemmed from nursery.

As other say...stock up on Calpol

Thanks everyone, good to know it's normal but my goodness it's crap!!

Totally normal, though DD 6 seems to have picked up everything this year ( and given most of it to me) despite having done so when she started nursery.

ShadowPuppets · 08/03/2022 20:38

Yep, unfortunately. Permanent cough and runny nose on our DD since about October, she started nursery in August. Negative LFTs and PCRs all round. DH and I haven’t picked up too many, maybe three or four colds each but we’ve passed a couple to my parents too which I feel really guilty about. You can only do what you can though and as a PP says everyone’s systems are playing catch up on last winter too. I’m not an anti masker by anyones standards, triple vaxxed etc etc but it does make me think I’d rather that masks etc didn’t become the norm - I’d rather do a couple of colds a year than have them hit this badly and I’m not convinced you can avoid them forever.
