Can someone just tell me what car to buy

I am not particularly interested in cars, certainly not luxury cars, but I do want a new one. We currently have a Peugot 2008 and whilst it’s been great to drive and has never had a problem, I hate how low it is (I regularly bump my head when getting in). I also dislike that with two car seats in the back, you cannot fit anyone else in the back at all. Boot space isn’t great.

I want something altogether bigger and preferably also a hybrid. Does anyone know what would fit that description? Friends are happy with their Mitsubushi Outlander. Anyone have any big hybrids they are happy with?

If you live in a city / town you certainly don't need an Outlander!

Why not look at people carriers like a Touran or a C4?

I love my 2021 Hyundai Tucson

I don't know about hybrid cars but my last car that I've not long sold was a Hyundai ix35 and it was great

When we got our latest car we test drove a Honda CRV hybrid. It was absolutely beautiful, and I would have bought it, but I’m disabled and needed an electric boot which that model didn’t have.

Buying a car that fits two car seats and a person in the middle is surprisingly hard (despite so many people telling me I'm wrong, their SUV is massive, but being proved wrong). You might want to decide if the size or the hybrid aspect is more important?

Volvo XC40. Lovely, comes in hybrid and electric. Big enough for 2 car seats and still a space in the back, decent boot size and lovely to drive

Are you aiming to buy new or second hand. I ask because I heard of someone today, who ordered a new car last April and it isn’t due for delivery this year. The silicon chip business has caused problems in the new and second hand car market.

We had a Volvo XC90 hybrid. I loved it. Lots of space for car seats and a huge boot. The boot was even good when all seven seats were in use.

I have an ID3 all electric. I love it. It is so easy to drive. If I wanted something slightly bigger I'd go for the ID4.

We googled 'cars with 3 seats' as it was important to us. 3 proper seats not 2+ little gap. We have a Citroen airspace -it's fab

I'd look at the Honda CRV hybrid.

I always recommend Skoda, as they are very practical and well designed - excellent cabin space and boot space relative to the external dimensions, and competitive prices.

I have a Skoda Octavia and I'm very happy with it, although I don't think it's quite what you're after, OP. Sounds as if you want an SUV/crossover style? Kamiq or Kodiaq maybe? I don't know if they fit three across in the back, though.

Don't get a Mitsubishi Outlander though, that's a ridiculously big car!

Ideally looking to buy second hand. Do want quite big although not van big. We use our car for storage quite a bit!

Our lovely neighbours have the Volvo, it looks great, but they said the hybrid version was extremely expensive!

It might be a case of what you can get! I was waiting a year for a new car and they’ve just cancelled it again - I can’t be bothered re ordering so I’ll just be buying whatever second hand car isn’t a complete rip off (which they all are at the moment due to new cars being so hard to come by)

I bloody loved our Ford Galaxy. Three proper seats in the back, enormous boot, nice high driving position.

We've currently got a Skoda Yeti - I like it but it's not anywhere near as roomy as the Galaxy.

I know it's another peugeot but what about the new 5008? It's roomy and can be a 7 seater or giant boot. By new I just mean the model since 2018 so you could get one second hand. Though I think the hybrid version if there is one is even newer.

If you want hybrid, you may be better off leasing than looking SH at the moment because they are coming down in price and you'll end up paying about the same for a second hand one anyway.

My husband bought a Hyundai Tucson in December. I didn't particularly want to change but it's his choice as I've got my own MX5.

Right from the start I had to drive it more because my mother is seriously ill and I needed the seats, more room and a higher ride than my ikkle car offers. I absolutely love it!

I'd really recommend a Tuscon.

Yes I was definitely going to use this post to get a rough idea where to start and then look what is available second hand. I just spotted the new 5008 today @BertieBotts !

I love my Hyundai Tucson. It's a couple of years old & it's a dream to drive, great handling, fairly nippy, feels big but not massive, roomy boot, enough gadgetry. Would highly recommend taking one out for a test drive if you can.
The day I drove it out of the showroom, there were 3 other people collecting their second-hand Tucsons, which is always a good sign

We test drove the ID3 and loved it. Someone on our road has the ID4 and I'm jealous as it's great.
