Semantle episode 3

Somehow we've almost filled 2 threads already so here is thread 3. I still need a distraction from the news, and Semantle certainly fits the bill.

To understand what I'm on about followthis link. It's a word game like Wordle in that you need to find the secret word of the day, but it works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, one of the secret words was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

Finally got it thanks to AliasGrape’s hint! That took me so long and I was starting to get quite frustrated!

I have 987 and 983 but the hint hasn’t helped me yet!

Pretty difficult I thought today

I've been stuck on 998 for hours. The words in this one are so random. So one word is up in the 8/900s and then one with the same root is in single figures.

Argh got it! Thought of that word ages ago but stupidly didn’t try it as I didn’t think it really fitted!

AliasGrape's clue works with 998 in place of 985, if you've got any of those other numbers

Sorry if this has already been said. But yesterday the word 'kind' wasn't green and was also very low scoring. To me that would have been a high 900s green word. Was that a mistake do you think?

@RoxieLoxy sometimes it doesn't make sense. When field was the answer I had low scores for farm, ranch and garden 🤷🏻‍♀️

I solved Semantle #40 in 131 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 9.18. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #7. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 4.15. semantle.novalis.org/

I solved Semantle #40 in 36 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 7.78. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #28. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 22.59 (155/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

I solved Semantle #40 in 119 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 3.57. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #37. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 26.19 (661/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

Found it, luckily the theme I was trying was the right one. Still took me ages to get it though!

95 guesses today. Got stuck on a theme and made things over-complicated when actually there was quite a straightforward route I could have taken.

151 guesses to get it, and also had to use the hints from AliasGrape -- another one finding the associations not what I expected (!!) I had 8 in closest 100 before I got it. Guess #22 was rank 975, so that was a long haul...

Phew.

Only started playing this week and got the first two relatively quickly. I just don't seem to be able to hit on anything very close.
