How long do electricians take to come and give you a quote/start work?

I'm wondering if it differs if it's someone who you know/are related to?

I'm needing a few things done in the house. A friend (also distant relative) of mine's dad has a business in this area and she told me to give him a call and he'd get it done and I'd get a discount.

I phoned and left my details but this was in early December. She had said that he was busy but it's now March, I'm not sure if these things usually take so long or do you think because of the family connection/discount I'm further down the list? I had asked her to chase him about it because I'd not heard anything back and she did speak to him to remind him but that was some weeks ago and there's still been no response. I'm feeling a bit awkward about things now. It wasn't an emergency but I'd like to get it done soon.

That's too long, he's just not that into the job.

Try getting an Electrician where I live. You never hear back or they just don't turn up on the day .
Waiting almost a year for a small repair so far Confused
